Before you start: Please visit this link to download to latest version of the BLDC Tool for your PC or MAC.
This process may seem overwhelming but if you follow the steps, it can be done in 15 minutes very easily.
Overview
- Connect to Slave Focbox via USB
- Click OK for warning
- Locate firmware
- Flash Firmware to 2.18 firmware
- Adjust motor TAB (motor configuration page)
- Adjust FOC TAB, motor detection
- Adjust Slave APP CONFIGURATION TAB
- Connect to Master Focbox via USB
- Click OK for warning
- Locate firmware
- Flash Firmware to 2.18 firmware
- Adjust motor TAB (motor configuration page)
- Adjust FOC TAB, motor detection
- Adjust Master APP CONFIGURATION TAB

Detailed steps
1) Connect to Slave Focbox via the included 90 degree USB. Power board on (Slave focbox is the one WITHOUT the Bluetooth module and receiver attached to it)
a) Refresh COM port
b) Hit “Connect”
2) After hitting connect, this warning will pop up. Click OK.
3) Click on the "Firmware" tab at the top of the page. Click "Choose" > Click "Firmwares" > "Hw-410_411_412" >VESC_default.bin
Click "Open"
4) Click "Upload"
The Focbox will disconnect. Wait for it to reconnect after about 6 seconds then click on "connect" on the right hand side.
5) Motor configuration page, motor tab
Change the marked values to be identical to the following image.
Click Read configuration
Motor Type: FOC
Motor Max 60
Motor Min -50
Batt max 25
Batt min -12
Abs max 130
Untick "Limit ERPM with negative Torque"
Min Erpm -60000
Max Erpm 60000
Battery cutoff start 34v
Battery cutoff end 29v
Click "Write configuration" at the bottom
6) FOC tab- Motor Detection
- Select motor configuration page, left hand side - FOC Tab - Motor Detection
- Hit Read configuration
a) Select "HALL"
b) Hit “Measure R and L” - Please note, motor(s) will make noise
c) Hit “ Measure λ (Req:R) - Please note, motor(s) will spin
d) Hit ‘Apply”
e) Hit “Calc CC (Req: R and L)”
f) Hit “Apply"
g) “Detect Hall Sensors” section, hit 'Measure' Motor will make noise.
h) Hit “Apply”
i) Hit “Write configuration”
7) Select App Configuration page, General tab.
Controller ID for SLAVE is "0"
a) Hit “Read Configuration”
b) Tick “PPM and UART”
c) Hit “Write Configuration”
8) Connect to Master Focbox via the included 90 degree USB. Power board on (Master Focbox has bluetooth module and receiver connected to it)
a) Refresh COM port
b) Hit “Connect”
9) After hitting connect, this warning will pop up. Click OK.
10) Click on the "Firmware" tab at the top of the page. Click "Choose" > Click "Firmwares" > "Hw-410_411_412" >VESC_default.bin
Click "Open"
11) Click "Upload"
The Focbox will disconnect. Wait for it to reconnect after about 6 seconds then click on "connect" on the right hand side.
12) Motor configuration page, motor tab
Change the marked values to be identical to the following image.
Click Read configuration

- Hit Read configuration
a) Select "HALL"
b) Hit “Measure R and L” - Please note, motor(s) will make noise
c) Hit “ Measure λ (Req:R) - Please note, motor(s) will spin
d) Hit ‘Apply”
e) Hit “Calc CC (Req: R and L)”
f) Hit “Apply"
g) “Detect Hall Sensors”
h) Hit “Apply”
i) Hit “Write configuration”
14) Select App Configuration page, General tab.
Controller ID for MASTER is "1"
a) Hit “Read Configuration”
b) Tick “PPM and UART”
c) Hit “Write Configuration”
Disconnect USB, turn board off and back on and test spin.
If only one motor spins, repeat process from Step 1-14. If motors are spinning the wrong direction, you have switched the motor wires and you will need to flip any 2 of the 3 phase wires for that motor AND do Step 1, 5-14.

Hi Bara,
thanks for this info.
The stuttering problem on my R2 is almost solved, but now i'm not able to use the ESC Monitor App
because of the older Firmware.
Is there another Firmware, i can use?
